You hand us your birth details and your shadow comes back. That deserves a straight answer about where it all goes.
What we collect
Your birth details. First name, gender at birth, and the date, time and place of your birth — including the coordinates and time zone of the place you pick. This is what a chart is calculated from. Gender at birth is asked because it decides how one part of the reading is written, and for no other reason.
Your email address, once you ask for the second half of your reading.
Your readings — the chart, the free reading, and the Self-Model if you buy one.
How you arrived and what you did. Pages viewed, steps completed, the campaign or link that brought you, your IP address and browser. If you came from a Meta ad, the identifiers Meta uses to recognise that click.
We do not collect your card number. Stripe does, and it never passes through us.
Why
To calculate your chart and write your reading; to keep it so you can return to it; to email you about it; to take payment; to measure which advertising works, since that is what pays for the free readings; and to keep the service from being abused.
We do not sell your personal information for money, and we never send any part of your chart or your reading to an advertising network.
Who else sees it
Anyone you share a reading with. You can show one of your readings to any email address you choose. If you do, that person can read the whole free reading and see the chart it was calculated from — which includes the date, time and place of birth you entered. Nothing is emailed to them; it appears in their own private space when they sign in with that address. It stays yours, and you can take it back at any time from your private space, at which point it disappears from theirs. Purchased Self-Models are never shared.
These are the companies that process data on our behalf, and what each one gets:
- Supabase — Database and accountsProcessed in: European Union (Frankfurt)
- Vercel — Website hosting and deliveryProcessed in: United States and globally
- Moonshot AI — Writes your reading from your chart. Receives your first name, gender at birth and the calculated chart — never your email or payment details.Processed in: Outside the EU and the United States
- Stripe — Payments. Card details go directly to Stripe and never reach our servers.Processed in: United States
- Resend — Sends our emailProcessed in: European Union and United States
- Cartesia — Turns the words of a purchased Self-Model into speech for the audiobook. Receives the text of the report itself — not your name, your email, your chart or your payment details.Processed in: United States
- Amazon Web Services — Stores the audiobook files. Nothing is stored there but the audio, reachable only through a link we sign for you.Processed in: United States
- Microsoft Clarity — Session recording and heatmaps, so we can see what is confusing rather than guess. Every form field is masked before it leaves your browser, which means your birth data and the words of your reading are never captured.Processed in: United States
- Meta — Advertising measurement: whether an ad led to a reading or a purchase. Identifiers only, never any part of your chart or reading.Processed in: United States
- Google Analytics — Counts visits and which pages people reach, so we can see where a reading is abandoned. It receives the address of the page and where you arrived from — never your name, your birth data, your email or any part of your reading.Processed in: United States
The one worth reading twice is Moonshot AI. Writing your reading means sending your first name, your gender at birth and your calculated chart to a model provider outside the EU and the United States. Your email address, your payment details and your account are never sent with it. If that is not acceptable to you, do not submit a chart — there is no version of this product that writes a reading without it.
Where it lives, and for how long
Your account, chart and readings are stored in a database hosted in the European Union (Frankfurt). We keep them for as long as you have an account, because the promise the service makes is that your reading is still there when you come back.
Analytics events are kept for two years. Email records are kept for as long as needed to honour an unsubscribe and to prove we honoured it.
Your rights, and how to use them
Whatever your country, you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to greg@zodiaq.net from the address on the account and we will do it within 30 days. Deletion means deletion: the chart, the readings and the account go, and they cannot be recovered afterwards.
If you are in California: sharing advertising identifiers with Meta so we can tell whether an ad worked counts as “sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising” under the CPRA. You can stop it at Your Privacy Choices. We will not treat you differently for doing so.
If you are in the EU, the EEA, the UK or Switzerland: nothing measures you until you have said yes. Advertising measurement and session recording do not load at all until you answer the question at the bottom of the page, and if you ignore it they never load. We rely on your consent for those, and on our legitimate interest in running the service for everything else. You may object, withdraw consent, or complain to your data protection authority — and to withdraw consent, clear this site’s cookies and answer differently, or write to us and we will do it for you.
To stop marketing email, use the unsubscribe link in any offer we send. Your login links and your readings are unaffected.
Cookies
Four of ours, and none of them are the point of this site. One identifies your browser so your reading is yours before you have an account. One keeps you logged in. One remembers whether you chose the light or the dark theme. One remembers your answer about measurement, so you are asked at most once a year.
When advertising measurement is on, Meta and Microsoft Clarity set their own. That is the only category you can switch off, because it is the only one that is not needed to give you what you came for — and switching it off changes nothing about your reading.
There is nothing here that follows you around the rest of the web for our benefit, and we sell nothing to anybody.
Children
Zodiaq is for adults. We do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us data, write to us and we will delete it.
